RISE is a district-wide program housed at our newly reconfigured elementary school in Dorset.
This multiage program serves students on the Autism Spectrum in grades K-5.
Its focus is on creating intentional opportunities for students to participate with their grade level peers in meaningful activities, while also receiving specially designed instruction to build their individual communication, personal care, social-emotional, and academic skills.
The RISE program is committed to increasing student independence in order to transition to a regular education environment as appropriate.
The Special Programs Paraeducator - RISE performs a variety of instructional and/or support duties to assist the school and teachers in instruction, supervision, and education of students in groups or in one-on-one teacher to student ratios.
The Paraeducator supports students in all aspects of their education by supporting an environment conducive to learning.
As a positive and nurturing member of the school team, this position understands and attends to a variety of students’ academic, social, emotional, and behavior needs.
The Paraeducator supports school teams in the implementation of teaching plans and/or services for individual students as per the student’s Individual Education Plan and/or programs designed by a teacher or other professional as directed.
Paraeducators work under the day-to-day direction of the staff member(s) supported including the classroom teacher, special education teacher, SLP, OT, PT, and under the direct supervision of the Principal.
Teachers and/or special education personnel provide specific directions and oversight for supervision and/or instructional support.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate patience, compassion, and empathy when working with students and will exhibit professionalism when representing the school.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Pay Rate
- $24.50 - $27.50 per hour, based on years of direct experience working with the same population of students.
