Are you an experienced Industrial Powder Coating professional ready to step into a leadership role ? We are seeking a dynamic Section Leader to oversee our clients Powder Coating Spray Line and guide a dedicated team of 34 production operators.In this role, you will balance hands-on technical expertise with team management. You will ensure daily production targets are met safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities?? Team Leadership
?? Production & Quality Control
- Oversee the daily operation of the powder coating spray line.
- Verify powder application, curing temperatures, and coating thickness.
- Inspect finished products for appearance, adhesion, and coverage.
- Identify defects early to reduce rework, scrap, and downtime.
?? Maintenance & Safety
- Check spray guns, feed systems, conveyors, and curing ovens daily.
- Enforce health and safety rules, PPE usage, and 5S housekeeping.
- Report equipment faults to maintenance to maximize uptime.
?? Materials & Improvement
- Monitor powder usage to minimize material waste.
- Track inventory for powders, hooks, masking, and consumables.
- Drive lean manufacturing and process improvement projects.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired:
- Education: Diploma or Technical Certificate in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 35 years in powder coating or industrial painting operations.
- Licence: Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (RTITB, NPORS, or ITSAR accreditation).
Preferred:
- Previous experience as a team leader, supervisor, or line cell leader.
Skills & Competencies
- Technical: Strong understanding of powder coating processes and equipment troubleshooting.
- Leadership: Ability to motivate a small team and manage workflows under pressure.
- Safety: Knowledge of industrial workplace safety standards and quality systems.
- Admin: Basic computer skills for logging production data and reports.
Our client can be slightly flexible with hours - either 6am to 2pm or 7.30am to 3.30pm.Salary range is £27,000 - £30,000Performance/pay reviews at 3 and 6 months28 days hols
