Job Title: Senior Sous Chef – Monday–Friday | Moorgate
Location: Moorgate Underground Station, City of London
Salary: £44,000 per annum
Contract Type: Full-time
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Shift Pattern: 07:00 – 15:30 (daytime service, occasional flexibility required for events)
Holiday Entitlement: 23 days plus Bank Holidays
About the Role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled Senior Sous Chef to join Bennett Hay in a senior kitchen role based in the Moorgate area. This position sits within a fast-paced, high-volume corporate hospitality environment where food quality, consistency, and creativity are central to the client experience.
You will work closely with the Head Chef to shape seasonal menus, deliver consistently high standards, and ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations. This role also requires a strong understanding of modern corporate dining, events catering, and the ability to influence food direction within a collaborative, chef-led team structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef in designing and delivering seasonal menus aligned with supplier availability and customer expectations, ensuring high standards across all services.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including stock management, ordering, cost awareness, and maintaining consistency across service periods in a high-volume corporate environment.
- Contribute to innovation within the food offering, bringing awareness of current food trends and adapting them appropriately for a business and industry (B&I) setting.
- Maintain strict compliance with all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations, ensuring the kitchen operates to audit-ready standards at all times.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring service delivery aligns with expectations and operational needs.
- Deputise for the Head Chef when required, ensuring continuity of leadership, kitchen performance, and team coordination.
What We’re Looking For
- Solid experience operating at Senior Sous Chef level or equivalent within a high-end corporate, hotel, or contract catering environment.
- Strong technical culinary skills, attention to detail, and the ability to deliver consistent, high-quality food at scale.
- Experience in B&I or similar corporate hospitality settings, with an understanding of client-driven service expectations.
- Creative, commercially aware, and confident in contributing to menu development and kitchen leadership.
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen compliance procedures, with the ability to lead by example.
