Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a workshop plant engineer for a depot in Letchworth for a leading plant hire company in the UK who provide top-of-the-range, premium-condition excavators for hire. The company operates a fleet of advanced Hitachi excavators, all under 12 months old, ranging from 3 to 35 tons, ensuring maximum versatility for various projects. The ideal candidate will come with relevant qualifications in the plant industry and a past work experience working on a variety of heavy plant including excavators.

Workshop Plant Engineer – Letchworth Job Overview

  • Carry out regular maintenance, servicing, and repairs on a range of plant equipment.
  • Identify and fix faults while ensuring all machinery meets required safety standards.
  • Perform inspections and maintain detailed records of completed work.
  • Work independently or collaboratively to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Follow all Health & Safety guidelines, maintaining safe working practices at all times.

Workshop Plant Engineer – Letchworth Job Requirements

  • Relevant qualifications in the plant industry; NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent would be advantageous
  • Proven experience in plant machinery maintenance and repairs.
  • Full, valid UK driving licence.
  • CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) would be advantageous but not essential
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commutable distance to the depot based in Letchworth
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage time effectively.

  • £38,000-£42,000 basic salary dependant on experience.
  • Monday-Friday 45-hour week.
  • Overtime available.
