A skilled Electronics Design & Development Engineer is sought by a long-established manufacturer of engineering equipment based in Hook. This position plays a key role in supporting the development and maintenance of electrical and electronic design information for both existing and new product lines. The role requires familiarity with CE and UKCA regulatory compliance as part of delivering complete design documentation in line with the engineering roadmap, overall business objectives, and sales targets.

The position also involves supporting testing and development activities for electrical/electronic designs as needed, working closely with the engineering team and wider business functions.

Job Overview

  • Produce, maintain, and update electrical/electronic design documentation for new and existing products, ensuring compliance with business requirements, customer expectations, and CE/UKCA standards.
  • Carry out testing and verification of existing, modified, and newly developed electrical/electronic designs against technical specifications.
  • Respond to technical queries related to electrical/electronic systems from within the GDS team and external customers, using in-house test equipment to replicate issues and support troubleshooting.
  • Assist in managing the change control and non-conformance process under the direction of the Lead Engineer.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Engineer during prototype development, including identifying any specialist equipment or tooling required for testing.

Job Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or an equivalent Level 7 NVQ.
  • Hands-on knowledge and understanding of electronic components and their role within systems.
  • Prior experience in a low-to-medium volume electromechanical manufacturing setting.
  • Experience working in a live production or technical support environment, meeting tight deadlines and adjusting to shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency with test and measurement instruments required for CE/UKCA certification processes.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as C, C++, and C#.
  • Experience working with live and operational electronic/electrical machinery.

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Jira, version control systems (e.g., GIT), and Confluence or similar tools.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks.

Salary & Benefits

  • Competitive salary in the region of £35,000 to £40,000, depending on experience.
