My client are a growing freight forwarding business with a strong presence in the European market and exciting plans to expand into international trade lanes. Freight Supervisor Job Overview
They are looking for an experienced and proactive Freight Supervisor to join their operations team. This is a varied role covering air, sea and road freight, with responsibility for quotations, customs entries, and customer support.
As they continue their expansion into worldwide markets, a good understanding of international freight and customs processes – ideally with experience in US imports – will be highly valuable.
Responsibilities include:
- Supervise daily freight forwarding operations across air exports, air imports, sea exports, sea imports, and road exports
- Liaise with carriers, hauliers, and overseas agents to ensure smooth shipment flows
- Complete customs entries (CDS) and ensure compliance with all regulations
- Prepare competitive quotations and costings across global routes
- Monitor shipments and resolve any operational issues
- Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a key contact for clients, providing updates and resolving queries
- Deliver a high level of customer service across all accounts
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure efficient end-to-end service
- Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure all shipments comply with customs and international trade regulations
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation
- Contribute to SOPs, process improvements and staff development
Freight Supervisor Salary & Benefits
- Salary of £35,000-£40,000 DOE

Freight Supervisor Job Requirements
- 3-5 years' experience in freight forwarding / logistics
- Knowledge across multiple freight modes (air, sea, and road)
- Experience in customs entries (CDS) and import/export documentation
- Strong understanding of global freight, ideally US import procedures
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with MS Office and freight systems
- Knowledge of Incoterms, HS codes, and wider trade compliance
- Exposure to new trade lanes or international expansion
- Additional European language skills
