Our client, a leading specialist construction manufacturer, is seeking a Façade Engineer who will enhance the company's success by providing expert technical design support for aluminium and steel façade systems. The role will involve detailed structural and thermal analysis, client engagement, and collaboration with internal departments to develop high-performance building envelope solutions.
With a team of 115 staff in the UK, the company is a global leader in its field. This role will directly contribute to business growth and client satisfaction by delivering technically sound, innovative, and efficient façade design proposals.
This opportunity will see the individual review and assess design solutions for building envelopes to ensure the appropriate engineering calculations are conducted, with the design meeting performance requirements.
Working in conjunction with the Façade Designer and internal product and sales teams, this individual will deliver a design proposal for a standard or bespoke system solution that is suitable to engage clients on for specific projects.
Job Overview:- Review architectural drawings to propose high-performance and efficient façade solutions.
- Conduct preliminary and detailed structural assessments of glass-aluminium structures.
- Perform thermal analyses of standard and bespoke façade systems.
- Develop and present concept and detailed design proposals aligned with project requirements.
- Create technical reports covering performance, buildability, and compliance aspects.
- Work closely with internal teams (product management, sales, training) and external stakeholders (fabricators, architects).
- Attend project meetings and site visits to understand client needs and refine design solutions.
- Master's degree in structural or façade engineering.
- Proven experience in designing complex aluminium-glass façade systems.
- Strong knowledge of unitised and stick systems, window/door systems, and cladding materials (e.g. GFRC, terracotta).
- Expertise in façade structural engineering and building physics.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D), Dlubal RFEM or similar FEM software, and Flixo or equivalent thermal analysis tools.
- Familiarity with UK-specific façade systems and standards.
- Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 DOE
- 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
- Pension: 5% company contribution
