Site Engineer / Senior Engineer required for a growing civil engineering and construction contractor delivering a range of infrastructure and building projects across North East Scotland. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join a well-established team working on technically challenging schemes, including substations, steel-framed buildings, and other major construction projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining engineering excellence on site, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This position would particularly suit candidates based in North East Scotland or those willing to travel extensively throughout the region.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Carry out accurate site setting out and surveying activities using Total Stations, GPS, and other surveying equipment.
  • Interpret, review, and challenge construction drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements and specifications.
  • Raise and manage technical queries, working closely with project teams to resolve engineering issues.
  • Support the implementation and completion of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring quality standards are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Produce accurate material take-offs to assist with procurement planning and resource management.
  • Complete detailed as-built surveys and maintain comprehensive site records for quality assurance and project handover documentation.
  • Liaise with designers, subcontractors, site teams, and project managers to ensure effective project coordination.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across all site activities.
  • Monitor construction works to ensure adherence to design specifications, tolerances, and industry standards.
  • Previous experience in a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer position within the civil engineering or construction sectors.
  • Experience working on substations, steel-framed buildings, or other technically complex infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering and construction methodologies.
  • Proficient in the use of surveying and setting-out equipment, including Total Stations and GPS systems.
  • Experience working within a quality-controlled environment and completing associated documentation.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred.
  • Full UK driving licence.
