An established engineering and manufacturing company based in Newry is seeking an experienced Powder Coater to join their production team. This hands-on role will involve preparing, coating, and finishing metal components to a high standard within a busy workshop environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent quality finishes across a range of fabricated and engineered products while maintaining safe and efficient working practices.
Job Overview
- Prepare metal components for powder coating including cleaning, masking, sanding, and hanging parts
- Apply powder coating finishes to fabricated and engineered components using spray equipment
- Operate powder coating ovens and monitor curing processes
- Inspect coated products to ensure quality standards and finish consistency
- Identify coating defects and carry out rework where required
- Maintain powder coating equipment and ensure the work area remains clean and organized
- Work from production schedules and job sheets to meet manufacturing deadlines
- Follow health & safety procedures and correct handling of materials and equipment
- Support wider workshop and production activities where required
- Work effectively as part of a manufacturing team in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
- Previous experience within powder coating or industrial paint spraying
- Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering, or fabrication environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good understanding of workshop health & safety procedures
- Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work
- Forklift or overhead crane experience would be advantageous but not essential
Hours of Work
Monday – Thursday: 07:00 – 17:00
Friday: 07:00 – 13:00
40-hour working week
Salary & Benefits
£15.00 - £16.50 per hour depending on experience
