We are seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join a well‑established plant hire and machinery services business known for supplying high‑quality equipment across the region. Operating from a busy depot in Whickham, this role offers a balance of workshop‑based repairs and mobile call‑outs to customer sites. You’ll be part of a skilled engineering team supporting a modern fleet of heavy plant and construction machinery. A fully equipped company vehicle is provided for mobile duties.
Role Overview
- Carry out servicing, repairs, and diagnostics on a wide range of heavy plant equipment
- Work both in the workshop and on customer sites as required
- Respond to breakdowns and perform on‑site repairs using a company van
- Conduct routine maintenance to manufacturer standards
- Complete job cards, service reports, and parts requisitions accurately
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and efficiently
- Represent the business professionally during customer visits
- Support depot operations when not attending mobile call‑outs
Requirements
- Proven experience working on heavy plant machinery (excavators, dumpers, rollers, telehandlers, etc.)
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault‑finding skills
- Ability to work independently on mobile jobs and as part of a workshop team
- Full UK driving licence
- Good communication and customer‑facing skills
- Reliable, organised, and able to prioritise workloads
Salary & Benefits
- Monday–Friday, 7:00–16:30
- Overtime available at time and a half
