Trainee Quantity SurveyorLocation: IpswichSalary: up to £28,000Required for our client to join them in their office in Ipswich. The company that the Trainee Quantity Surveyor will be working for a Civil Engineering Contractors, delivering projects nationwide for clients throughout the UK and working across a wide range of sectors. The Trainee Quantity Surveyor may get the opportunity to study towards a degree at university which will be sponsored . The Trainee Quantity Surveyor will work along side and support the Commercial team, and will benefit from working within a supportive learning environment ensuring their personal development and opportunity to progress.
Trainee Quantity Surveyor Position Overview
- Making site visits to carry out inspections.
- Prepare, maintain and process financial and project transactions.
- Support the Commercial and Sales team with admin tasks and ad-hoc duties.
- Analysis of project costs and preparation of monthly cost reports and commentary for any variance.
- Valuing completed work and applying for payments.
- Attend meetings onsite or elsewhere with the Site Teams, Clients, Suppliers and other parties as required.
- Use systems and processes, allowing effective measurement of commercial performance.
- Assist in provide accurate, real time, monthly reports (Cost Value Reconciliations) and final outcome forecasts
Trainee Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements
- An interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying within the construction or civil engineering industry.
- Some understanding of the role of a Quantity Surveyor and commercial processes within construction.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with good attention to detail.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Previous experience within construction, civil engineering, commercial administration or estimating would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related subject would be beneficial, although candidates without formal qualifications will be considered.
- Willingness to undertake further training and professional development, including the opportunity to complete a company-sponsored degree.
Trainee Quantity Surveyor Position Remuneration
- Salary: Up to £28k DOE25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, annual leave buy and sell scheme, and years' service entitlement increase.
