Pre Delivery Inspector / Yardsman in Grantham

Location: Grantham Salary: £16.00 per hour Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am-5:15pm (39 hours per week) Overtime: Friday overtime available as required Employment Type: Permanent

We are looking for a practical and detail-oriented Pre-Delivery Inspector / Yardsman to join an established engineering business.

The role will combine machine inspection and quality checks with general yard duties, ensuring equipment is prepared to a high standard before being delivered to customers.

You will play an important role in checking machines, identifying any issues, organising equipment within the yard and supporting the wider delivery operation.

Overview

• Carry out pre-delivery inspections on machinery and equipment.




• Check machines meet required quality, safety and operational standards.




• Identify, record and report defects or issues requiring attention.




• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure repairs or adjustments are completed.




• Organise incoming deliveries and movement of machinery around the yard.




• Assist with stores and general yard duties when required.




• Maintain accurate inspection, repair and movement records.




• Prepare machinery and vehicles for customer dispatch.




• Ensure all relevant delivery and inspection documentation is completed.




• Identify recurring issues and highlight opportunities to improve quality and processes.




• Work closely with engineering and delivery teams to ensure machines are ready on time.

Requirements

• Previous experience in machine inspection, engineering, plant, quality control, yard operations or a similar environment would be advantageous.




• Good mechanical awareness and the ability to identify defects or issues.




• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspections.




• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple yard activities.




• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.




• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with engineering and delivery teams.




• Reliable, proactive and willing to get involved across both inspection and yard duties.




• A strong commitment to health & safety and maintaining high standards.
