Position: Graduate Technical Buyer - Chinese SpeakingLocation: Tipton, West MidlandsSalary: £27,000 - £35,000Working Arrangement: Office basedEmployment Type: PermanentThe Graduate Technical Buyer - Chinese Speaking is required in Tipton for our client. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual to join a manufacturing business specialising in castings, supporting the Director with purchasing, supplier sourcing and technical enquiries. The role will involve working closely with suppliers in China, sourcing components and materials, dealing with technical requirements and supporting commercial discussions. This position would suit an engineering graduate or technically qualified individual who is interested in developing a career within purchasing and technical sales. Previous buying or purchasing experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
Job Overview
- Assist the Director with purchasing, sourcing and supplier management activities.
- Source castings, components and related products from suppliers in China.
- Liaise directly with Chinese suppliers regarding technical requirements, specifications, pricing and lead times.
- Deal with technical enquiries and help ensure customer and supplier requirements are clearly understood.
- Review supplier quotations and assist with pricing and commercial negotiations.
- Support the sourcing of new suppliers and products in China.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with Chinese suppliers and other international contacts.
- Work closely with the Director on purchasing and technical sales activities.
- Assist with resolving technical or supply-related queries and ensuring requirements are communicated accurately.
- Travel to China approximately twice per year to meet with suppliers and support sourcing activities.
Job Requirements
- Chinese/Mandarin speaking with strong English communication skills.
- A technical background is essential, with an engineering qualification or degree being highly desirable.
- An understanding of engineering, manufacturing or castings would be advantageous.
- Previous experience within buying, purchasing, procurement or technical sales would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to deal confidently with suppliers and technical enquiries.
- Commercially minded with an interest in sourcing, purchasing and supplier relationships.
- Willingness to travel to China approximately twice per year.
- Sponsorship may be considered for the right candidate.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary: £27,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.
- Office-based role in Tipton, West Midlands.
- Approximately two trips to China per year.
