About the Role

We are recruiting for a

Detailer (Draftsperson) to join a growing engineering business specialising in the design, fabrication and installation of structural steelwork for a diverse range of infrastructure and industrial projects.

Working as part of an experienced design team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality fabrication and installation drawings for structural steel projects, ensuring designs are practical, buildable and efficient to manufacture.

You'll also manage bill of materials and collaborate closely with engineering, production, procurement, sales and project management teams to deliver projects on time.

This is an excellent opportunity for either a graduate with relevant structural steel design experience or an experienced Detailer looking to further develop their career within a well-established engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed fabrication, manufacturing and installation drawings for structural steel projects.
  • Create accurate 3D models using Autodesk Inventor or similar CAD software.
  • Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
  • Ensure designs are practical, cost-effective and suitable for fabrication and installation.
  • Work closely with engineers to develop technical solutions and resolve design queries.
  • Liaise with production, procurement, sales and project management teams throughout project delivery.
  • Update drawings and engineering documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting programme deadlines.
  • Ensure drawings comply with company standards and customer requirements.
  • Experience using a 3D CAD package such as

Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works or similar .

  • Experience producing engineering or fabrication drawings.
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage workload across multiple projects.
  • Team player with excellent attention to detail.
  • Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree or Apprenticeship).
  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Experience creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Knowledge of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Previous experience within structural steel, telecoms, civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

The company designs, fabricates and installs bespoke steel structures across a variety of sectors, including:

  • Telecommunications infrastructure (radio and radar towers)
  • Steel screw pile systems
  • Pipe support bridges
  • Rail and highway maintenance platforms
  • Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday
