A large Civil Engineering Contractor with a £134million turnover are looking for a Project Manager to run projects based in and around Chesterfield, Sheffield, Leeds and Middlesbrough areas. They offer a variety of excellent work and lifestyle benefits, and a competitive salary of up to £75,000 . Our client are looking to interview quickly for this position.
The Project Manager will be at least degree qualified with a good range of experience across Heavy Civils and Tunnelling with NEC experience in delivering TBM projects and civils contracts as well as the ability to run a project on their own with minimal assistance from the Project Director.
Project Manager Job Overview
- Ensure the site operates safely and efficiently, upholding the highest standards at all times.
- Maximise commercial performance of contracts by driving efficiencies and controlling costs.
- Develop procurement schedules and work closely with the procurement team to ensure resources are available when needed.
- Provide accurate and ongoing project forecasting, keeping the team informed of key updates.
- Proactively manage work, ensuring contingency plans and resources are in place.
- Identify and report risks and opportunities to the senior management team, offering solutions to mitigate risks and capitalise on opportunities.
- Ensure all work is delivered to the required quality standards, aiming for defect-free results.
- Oversee the production and implementation of essential project documentation, including Project Plans, Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and Waste Management Plans.
- Maintain detailed and accurate site diaries and records to ensure full transparency and traceability.
Project Manager Job Requirements
- Degree within Civil Engineering or related discipline
- Experience of managing Tunnelling and Shaft
- Tunnel boring machine experience
- Ability to deliver a project in time and on budget working for difficult clients
- Commercially astute with knowledge of standard forms of contract and measurement
- Proficient in NEC3 Option A & C contracts and change management
- Experienced in Design Management Programme & Risk Management
- Experience with production of CVR, including cost control, forecasting and value assessment
- Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate
- SMSTS
- An understanding of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, LOLER, PUWER, Confined Space Regulations, Working at Height Regulations etc
