Transport Planner Job Overview

  • Prepare site appraisals, feasibility studies and pre-application advice
  • Produce Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
  • Undertake traffic modelling and junction capacity assessments
  • Analyse transport and traffic data to support development proposals
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Attend project meetings and stakeholder consultations
  • Support planning applications and development projects from inception through to approval
  • Contribute to the delivery of high-quality transport planning solutions
  • Assist in developing client relationships and identifying new opportunities
  • Promote the consultancy's professional reputation through high-quality service delivery

Transport Planner Job Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
  • Consultancy experience within Transport Planning
  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
  • Proficient in industry-standard traffic modelling and junction assessment software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with clients, local authorities and project stakeholders
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to project delivery
  • Self-motivated with strong organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation
  • Experience in highway design
  • Experience undertaking or supporting Road Safety Audits
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain client relationships
