Our client is currently recruiting a Civil Design Project Manager to join their specialist Civil Engineering contracting business. The company that the Civil Design Project Manager will be working for is a well-established Civil Engineering contractor, working on projects from conception through construction to project delivery. The company's specialities span across a variety of different sectors including water and waste water, infrastructure and coastal protection. The Civil Design Project Manager will be working on a prestigious project on a new Reservoir in Hampshire.
Civils Design Project Manager Job Overview
- Lead and coordinate the design team, managing the programme and resolving technical conflicts between design packages.
- Identify and assess risks across design interfaces, evaluating commercial, operational and practical impacts.
- Chair internal and client-facing design review meetings, driving actions and outcomes.
- Support the construction team in developing effective temporary works solutions.
- Oversee design delivery in a BIM environment and ensure full alignment with project goals.
- Define and manage project deliverables including asset information, 3D models, MEICA specifications and O&M manuals.
- Review all design submissions prior to client issue.
- Undertake site asset surveys at both initial scoping and final commissioning stages.
- Review and validate civil designs, equipment specifications and procurement schedules.
- Participate in design progress, tender handover, and pre-start meetings.
- Approve design consultant payment applications.
- Engage stakeholders to ensure timely and coordinated delivery of all design elements, both temporary and permanent.
Civils Design Manager Job Requirements
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years' post-graduate experience in the wastewater or infrastructure sector.
- Demonstrable people management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of NEC3, NEC4 and JCT contracts.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and HAZOP requirements.
- Solid understanding of construction techniques and site delivery.
- Proficient in MS Project or Primavera for project planning.
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Navisworks, Infraworks, and ReCap Pro.
- Familiarity with cloud-based CDEs such as BIM 360.
