A well-established, independent accountancy practice based in central Leeds is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team on a full-time or part-time basis. This is an entirely office-based role, ideal for someone who thrives in a vibrant, collaborative practice environment and enjoys direct contact with clients and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate double-entry bookkeeping records for a varied portfolio of sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and EC Sales lists in line with Making Tax Digital (MTD) guidelines.
- Carry out regular bank, credit card, and supplier reconciliations.
- Process sales and purchase ledgers using cloud accounting platforms (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Post month-end journals, prepayments, and accruals.
- Liaise with internal tax and accounts teams to ensure smooth data handover for statutory year-end preparation.
Requirements
- Proven track record in bookkeeping within an accountancy practice or bureau environment.
- AAT qualified (Level 3 or 4) or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
- Practical experience using cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage 50).
- Sound knowledge of UK VAT regulations and standard accounting practices.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and clear communication skills.
Package & Benefits
- Salary: £27,000 - £33,000 FTE, depending on experience.
- Working Pattern: Fully office-based in central Leeds, with flexible start and finish times to assist with travel and personal commitments.
