We are seeking an experienced Senior / Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our team and support our growth by providing discipline leadership to deliver first class engineering on time and on budget. This is a full-time role based in our Belfast office.
Responsibilities:
- To adhere to the design process and undertake mechanical engineering design activities relating to the project.
- To fulfil the Practice’s overall objective in producing first class engineering on time and on budget.
- To have thorough knowledge of, and comply with, company procedures and standards.
Qualities and Skills required:
Essential:
- To be able to demonstrate ability to undertake the above responsibilities.
- Be accountable for technical performance, quality, and budget control on all projects within the team and have a hands‑on approach to resolving technical issues in design elements.
- Ensuring technical quality through implementation of best practice and continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications:
- Obtained Chartered status or working towards obtaining it within the next 12 months.
- Recognised qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years previous experience in a Senior Mechanical Engineer role within Building Services.
- Previous experience using Revit software and IES Software.
- Excellent leadership skills and client focused.
Additional Qualities and Skills required:
- Legally able to work in the UK and Ireland.
- Solid technical understanding of own core engineering discipline and the role of the environmental engineer within the design team.
- Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines engaged in the design of the built environment.
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standard design reference material.
- Ability to use initiative in response to demands of project.
- Able to negotiate and communicate well in graphical, written or verbal forms including ability to listen and to understand others.
- Ability to understand and formulate design decisions.
- A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and a proven commitment to independent, lifelong learning.
- Self‑organised and motivated.
- Developed problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team.
- Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally.
- Resilience and initiative to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure.
- Familiar with BIM.
- Experience of BREEAM or having working familiarity with environmental assessment methods.
- Familiarity with CIBSE design standards etc.
- Ability to use some of the following software applications: Dialux, Amtech, Microsoft ‘Office’ suite, Adobe Creative Suite.
