Position: Technical Designer Location: Kimpton, Hitchin, Hertfordshire Salary: £32,000 – £38,000 (DOE) Technical Designer required to join a well-established Engineering company that is based in the Kimpton / Hitchin area. This is a unique opportunity to add considerable value to a growing talented and collaborative design team, working on prestigious projects across the high end residential and marine AV industry.
Technical Designer Job Overview
Working alongside the design team on the technical development of assembly and installation content for existing and new product lines. Working alongside the design team on bespoke project documentation incl. detailed presentations for sales, assembly, installation and maintenance. Working alongside the manufacturing production teams on technical advice and assistance. Working alongside the servicing team to create informative content/ guides to assist with post sales technical issues in the field. Managing and maintaining CAD models and generated content within the companies central database, ensuring accuracy and consistency of all customer facing materials. Lead the development of all customer facing technical material.
Technical Designer Job Requirements
At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within the engineering or manufacturing industry. Have an excellent understanding of electro-mechanical assembly principles and general DFMA. Proficient in professional CAD packages for content generation. Eg. CAD, Solidworks, Solidworks Composer, etc – specific training is available if required. Exceptional attention to detail and a practical mindset: \’How would I do this if I had to do it myself? Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite, in particular InDesign for presentation and document creation purposes is advantageous. Ability to create high quality 3D models and animations for presentation purposes is advantageous. Ability to create photorealistic renderings, using Key shot, V-ray or similar is advantageous. Ability to understand and interpret information from architect/ design drawings and specifications. A resourceful, optimistic nature with great care and attention to detail who enjoys a challenge, open to all aspects of projects with a hands-on attitude.
