A well-established and growing construction-related supplier is seeking a commercially minded Sales & Hire Executive to support continued growth across the UK market. This is a 100% office-based, internal sales role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where speed, accuracy and conversion are key.
The role is heavily focused on day-to-day transactional sales activity rather than field sales or strategic business development. You will be handling a high volume of inbound enquiries, producing quotations at pace, actively following up opportunities and working across multiple systems simultaneously.
This is a hands-on role within a product-led business, requiring strong attention to detail around product selection, availability, logistics and hire coordination. Success in this position will be measured by response times, quote accuracy, conversion rates and disciplined system use.
Role OverviewYou will be responsible for managing inbound and outbound sales activity, converting enquiries into confirmed orders, maintaining customer relationships and supporting wider sales and operational functions as required.
Key Responsibilities- Handle a high volume of inbound telephone, email and web enquiries
- Prepare, issue and actively follow up hire and sales quotations
- Convert quotations into confirmed orders through proactive engagement
- Carry out outbound calls to existing customers and new prospects
- Support targeted business development activity in line with monthly sales plans
- Accurately process orders, hire contracts and customer records via CRM and ERP systems
- Maintain clean, up-to-date customer data and activity notes
- Coordinate with internal office, yard, transport and operations teams
- Support basic marketing activity such as email campaigns and lead follow-ups
- Provide holiday and absence cover across sales and operations, including: Sales administration and order processing, Liaising with logistics and operations teams, Raising invoices and processing delivery paperwork, Handling incoming orders and customer enquiries
- Proven experience in an internal sales, hire desk, trade counter or office-based B2B sales role (essential)
- Experience within construction, plant hire or a product-based environment (highly advantageous)
- Confident telephone manner and comfortable with call-heavy workloads
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong computer literacy with the ability to multitask across multiple systems
- Commercially minded, self-motivated and results-driven
- Comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced, transactional environment
- Flexible and proactive, with a willingness to support wider office operations
- Experience using CRM systems, Outlook, Excel and ERP software (desirable)
- Salary: £38k - £50k DOE
- Performance-based commission structure
