A well-established and growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor is currently seeking an Assistant Estimator / Estimator to join their expanding commercial team in Chorley. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator or an Assistant Estimator looking to take the next step in their career.
The successful candidate will join a highly skilled estimating team and play a key role in pricing and securing major residential infrastructure and groundworks packages.
Position Remuneration- Competitive salary up to £40,000 dependent on experience

- Carry out detailed measurement and take-offs using 2D and 3D software
- Review tender documentation and manage RFIs
- Undertake site visits and risk assessments
- Interpret ground conditions from Site Investigation reports
- Complete earthworks modelling and quantification
- Measure and price:
- S104 Adoptable Sewers
- S38 Roads
- S278 Highway Works
- Substructures from footing to floor slab
- External works
- Private drainage and attenuation
- Good understanding of groundworks activities including roads, sewers, foundations, earthworks and substructure
- Minimum HNC in Construction or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong motivation and willingness to learn and develop
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organised with strong time management abilities
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Team-focused and client-oriented approach
- Previous experience within a groundworks or civils estimating environment (Desirable)
- Proven measurement and take-off capability (Desirable)
- Experience interpreting Site Investigation reports (Desirable)
- Ability to build rates from first principles (Desirable)
- Experience using estimating software such as Causeway or ConQuest (Desirable)
