A specialist engineering manufacturer supplying high-quality pump and fluid handling equipment to a global customer base is currently looking to recruit a Mechanical Draftsman to support continued growth at their UK facility. This is an excellent opportunity to apply strong CAD and technical drawing skills within a precision engineering environment, producing detailed manufacturing documentation and 3D models for complex mechanical components and assemblies. Graduates with relevant qualifications will be considered.
Job Overview
- Creation of 2D technical drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks
- Producing detailed manufacturing drawings for components and assemblies
- Measuring existing components and producing accurate CAD models and drawings
- Updating and revising drawings in line with engineering and production requirements
- Maintaining drawing standards, revision control, and documentation systems
- Supporting engineers with design modifications and new product development work
- Preparation of bills of materials and basic technical documentation
- Liaising with manufacturing to ensure drawings are clear, accurate, and fit for purpose
- Assisting with the archiving and organisation of engineering drawings and data
- Carrying out any additional duties as reasonably assigned by a supervisor
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings
- Competent user of SolidWorks for both 3D modelling and 2D drafting
- Experience measuring components and translating them into accurate drawings
- Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to work
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and tolerances
- Completed or working towards formal engineering/design training
- Graduate candidates considered
- Engineering apprenticeship, HNC/HND and/or Degree in Engineering, Design, or a related discipline
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK
