Workshop Technician required for a fast-growing biotechnology in Oxford that offers solutions to cell line development. The ideal candidate for this role will be a highly motivated and proactive individual, with a strong technical or engineering background. They will join the engineering team responsible for the design, development, production, and support of products and technologies.
Overview:
- The assembly and QC of scientific instruments in low volume runs - involving manual assembly of small-scale components as well as some soldering and crimping.
- The assembly and QC of consumable and replacement parts.
- Service and repair of instruments, either in the workshop or on site at the customer premises. As such, short duration international travel is expected.
- Assisting with R&D tasks, building fixtures and jigs as required.
- Managing and developing inventory and workspaces used for manufacturing and maintenance.
- Keep track of stock, goods in and ordering - using our manufacturing software and keeping the database up to date.
Requirements:
- Strong practical ability.
- Confidence using hand tools.
- Evidence of education in engineering/physics/science or related field.
- Previous experience assembling and/or fixing electromechanical products. Non-work activities will also be considered.
- Ability to read and understand technical procedures, build instructions, wiring schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Experience of interpreting mechanical drawings and following build instructions.
- Attention to detail.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary - £25,000-£35,000 (dependent on experience).
- Hours 9-6 Monday-Thursday, 9-5 Friday.
- Pension, matched up to 5%.
- 25 days holiday.
- Flexible Hours.
