Our client is seeking a talented Intermediate Structural Engineer to join a growing structural engineering team near Surbiton. The Structural Engineer will be given support to become chartered and a salary of up to £43,000 + bonuses. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-end residential projects, from new build developments to refurbishment and affordable housing schemes. It is a split of 80% residential and 20% commercial.
Responsibilities
- Prepare structural and drainage designs with supporting calculations for new build and renovation projects.
- Carry out structural inspections, report on defects, and recommend remedial works.
- Conduct site visits and attend design team meetings to monitor progress and address technical queries.
- Develop UK residential drainage designs in accordance with current standards and regulations.
- Liaise with architects, contractors, and clients to deliver design solutions that meet project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations and relevant standards across all design work.
- Assist in the preparation of design reports, planning documents, and project specifications.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to junior team members.
Minimum Requirements
- A relevant degree (BSc or equivalent) within Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience, preferably in the residential sector.
- A proven track record of producing structural designs and supporting calculations.
- Experience of Tekla Tedds and AutoCAD.
- A desire to work towards ICE or IStructE chartered status.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage projects and deliver client satisfaction.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with UK drainage design and familiarity with relevant software would be beneficial.
