Are you a Setting Out Engineer looking for a permanent role offering a strong salary, your own van, a manageable regional patch and genuine long-term job security?

Bennett & Game Recruitment are working with a highly established Civil Engineering and Groundworks Contractor looking to appoint an experienced Setting Out Engineer to support projects across the South East.

The successful Engineer will typically oversee 4-5 live sites, predominantly delivering roads, drainage, foundations and associated infrastructure for major residential developments.

Sites are concentrated across the South East, making this particularly well suited to someone based around Crawley, Redhill, Reigate, Croydon, Tunbridge Wells or the surrounding areas.

The company has been established for over 30 years and has developed an excellent reputation for retaining its staff and delivering repeat work for major UK developers.

With approximately 30 live sites, 500 operatives and a £150m forward workload, they already have around 18 months of secured work, offering excellent long-term stability.

This would suit an experienced Setting Out Engineer who wants to join a secure contractor where they can take ownership of their sites without being expected to travel nationwide.

  • Carry out setting out across 4-5 groundworks and infrastructure projects
  • Setting out of roads, drainage, foundations, external works and associated infrastructure
  • Work across residential development sites throughout the South East
  • Use Leica Total Stations / TS16 equipment to accurately set out works
  • Read, interpret and work from engineering and construction drawings
  • Produce and review drawings using Auto CAD
  • Complete QA checks, surveys and as-built information where required
  • Work closely with Site Managers, Foremen, Contracts Managers and site teams
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and operatives to ensure works are delivered accurately and efficiently
  • Help identify and resolve technical or setting out issues on site
  • Ensure works are completed safely, accurately and in line with programme requirements
  • Setting Out Engineer Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer, Site Engineer or Land Surveyor with strong setting out experience
  • Background within groundworks, civil engineering, infrastructure or residential construction
  • Experience with roads, drainage, foundations or housing infrastructure advantageous
  • Experience using Leica Total Stations, ideally TS16
  • Auto CAD experience
  • Confident working independently and managing priorities across several sites
  • Good understanding of engineering drawings and site documentation
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
