Position: Export Operator - Ocean Freight

Location: Manchester

Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage ocean export shipments from booking through to completion within a cradle-to-grave operation
  • Coordinate shipments with customers, shipping lines, overseas agents, and suppliers
  • Handle all operational documentation and shipping processes
  • Monitor shipment progress and provide regular customer updates
  • Arrange and process customs requirements where required
  • Maintain responsibility for job file profitability and revenue generation
  • Ensure accurate job costing and P&L management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and overseas partners
  • Resolve operational issues efficiently and proactively
  • Ensure all shipments are handled in line with company procedures and industry regulations
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years' experience within Ocean Freight Export operations - Essential
  • Experience using CargoWise would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Customs experience would be advantageous, although training can be provided
  • Experience managing export shipments from start to finish
  • Good understanding of ocean freight documentation and shipping procedures
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
  • Commercial awareness and understanding of shipment profitability
Salary & Benefits
  • £32,000 - £35,000 basic salary
  • Working hours of 08:30 - 17:00 with some flexibility available
  • Flexible working available following probation
  • Annual bonus opportunity of up to 10% of salary following one year's service and achievement of agreed KPIs
