Salary: £45,000 - £65,000+ DOE

Senior or Principal Transport Planner required to join an established independent multidisciplinary consultancy, working within a growing Development Planning team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner who enjoys taking ownership of projects and providing practical, commercially focused transport advice to developers and wider project teams. The role can be tailored to suit either an experienced Senior Transport Planner looking to progress to Principal level, or an established Principal Transport Planner seeking a technically focused position without the expectation of significant business development responsibilities.

The successful candidate will work on a varied portfolio of development-led transport planning projects predominantly across the Midlands and South of England.

Job Overview

  • Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
  • Undertaking access appraisals and feasibility studies
  • Producing technical notes and supporting planning documentation
  • Advising clients on transport strategy from pre-application through to planning submission
  • Supporting projects through planning conditions, S106 and S278 matters
  • Reviewing development proposals and identifying practical transport solutions
  • Liaising directly with developers, architects, planning consultants and other members of the design team
  • Liaising and negotiating with local planning authorities and highway authorities
  • Managing project programmes, budgets and client expectations
  • Reviewing technical work produced by junior members of the team
  • Supporting and mentoring less experienced Transport Planners
  • Undertaking junction capacity assessments and interpreting modelling outputs

The successful candidate should have strong understanding of transport planning principles and practices.
