An established and highly respected precision engineering business based in Hemel Hempstead is currently looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller / Setter / Operator to join their growing team. The company has been operating successfully for over 26 years and specialises in high-precision machining work, predominantly supplying the motorsport, Formula 1, and gearbox sectors. Due to continued growth and increased workload, they are looking to strengthen their machining team within their modern, air-conditioned facility.

This is a family-run business operated by two brothers, offering a stable and friendly working environment with excellent staff retention - several employees have been with the company for many years.

The Role

  • Setting and operating HAAS CNC Milling machines
  • Working across 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis CNC Mills
  • Editing programmes at the machine when required
  • Producing precision-machined components to tight tolerances
  • Working from engineering drawings
  • Maintaining high quality standards across all work produced
  • Supporting production requirements across a busy machining environment

The company currently operates:

  • 3 x HAAS 5-axis CNC Mills
  • 2 x HAAS 3 & 4-axis CNC Mills

Hypermill programming software is used, and offline programming support is in place, allowing machinists to focus primarily on setting and operating duties. However, candidates with programming experience will also be considered.

Salary

£30,000 - £40,000 basic salary, dependent on experience and skill level. Overtime available in addition to basic earnings.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have experience as a CNC Miller / Setter / Operator within a precision engineering environment and be confident setting and operating CNC milling machines. Experience of HAAS controls would be advantageous, along with exposure to 3-axis, 4-axis or 5-axis machining. Programming experience using Hypermill or similar CAM software would be beneficial but is not essential, as the company is primarily seeking a skilled setter/operator. Candidates with full programming capabilities will also be considered. Experience within motorsport, aerospace, automotive, Formula 1, or other high-precision engineering sectors would be advantageous.
