Senior Design Engineer is required in Waterlooville, Hampshire for our client. Our client is a UK manufacturing business designing and building capital equipment for industrial applications. This role takes ownership of mechanical design from concept through to production, producing robust 3D models and manufacturing drawings, supporting prototyping, and resolving build issues on the shop floor. You'll work closely with manufacturing, assembly and suppliers to deliver reliable, serviceable machinery and well-controlled design documentation.
Job Overview
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings (assemblies, tolerances, BOMs) for capital equipment
- Lead concept development, design reviews, and design-for-manufacture improvements with production teams
- Specify materials, bought-out parts, and standard components; manage supplier technical queries
- Support prototype builds, first-off inspections, and fault-finding during assembly and commissioning
- Maintain engineering change control and drawing release using a PDM/PLM process
