Graduate Design & Applications Engineer required. My client is a well-established design and build company based in the Bishops Stortford area. As an engineer, you will be involved in project management and design of handling machinery for a range of industries. You will work closely within the design and project management teams on mechanical, electrical and automation projects.

The role would suit a technically minded graduate who holds a real interest in engineering design and project management. Our client is a specialist, niche manufacturer and require a candidate with the ability to use Solidworks or Inventor ideally. An interest in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and biochemistry would be an advantage along with a MEng or MSc Engineering degree.

Job Overview

  • Work closely within the design team on mechanical, electrical and automation design projects
  • Use of Solidworks or Inventor to develop machinery designs
  • Carry through design from initial concept to completion
  • Assisting the Project Management team with project plans, customer liaison and coordination between departments on project milestones
  • Completing detailed technical documentation for system design processes
  • Contributing to design review activities including HAZOP & LOPA processes
  • Occasional short-term travel to customer sites to assist with installation and commissioning

Job Requirements

  • Attention to detail and a high standard of verbal and written skills
  • A natural aptitude for undertaking engineering calculations, analysis and problem solving
  • Engineering Degree within Design, Process or similar
  • A knowledge of AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Experience or having an interest in Automation and controls would be advantageous
  • Based in a commutable distance of Bishops Stortford

Salary & Benefits

  • Monday to Friday, Full-time, Permanent position
  • Sponsorship of membership to a professional engineering body e.g., IMechE
  • Hybrid / flexible working
  • 28 days’ holiday (including bank holidays)
