Bennett & Game are representing an established and growing construction contractor who are seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The company delivers a diverse range of complex construction projects across the residential, hospitality and public sectors, working with local authorities, housing providers, private landlords and developers. With a typical annual turnover of £30m to £35m and a strong forward order book, the business has an established presence across the UK and delivers major refurbishment, regeneration, façade and new build schemes.

The successful Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor will take commercial responsibility for a range of projects, working closely with the operational, technical and design teams from pre-construction and PCSA stages through to final account. The role offers exposure to a varied and secure pipeline of work, support from an experienced commercial team, and genuine scope for long-term development within the business.

Position Overview

  • Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account
  • Review project information, tender documentation and employer requirements during PCSA and pre-construction stages
  • Prepare cost plans, budgets, valuations, forecasts and cost reports
  • Manage subcontract procurement, package tendering and subcontractor appointments
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment and manage project cash flow
  • Assess and manage variations, compensation events and change control processes
  • Prepare and manage project cost value reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Contracts Managers, technical teams and the wider supply chain to support successful project delivery
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors

Position Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor, principal contractor or specialist contractor environment, with experience managing the commercial aspects of construction projects
  • Strong commercial knowledge, including experience with valuations, cost reporting, variations, subcontract procurement and final accounts
  • Experience working on refurbishment, regeneration, façade, external envelope, residential or other complex construction projects would be advantageous
  • Previous exposure to PCSA and pre-construction activities would be beneficial but is not essential
  • Commercially astute with strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent industry experience
