Projects Design Engineer Ellesmere Port, Cheshire Full-Time | Permanent About the Role We are recruiting for a Projects Design Engineer to join a well-established engineering company specialising in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke mechanical process systems for a wide range of industrial sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to develop their project engineering responsibilities, or an established Projects Engineer who still enjoys hands-on design work.
The role offers involvement throughout the full project lifecycle, from sales handover and design through to installation and commissioning.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, particularly fabrication, structural steelwork, sheet metal, pipework or heavy engineering, and be confident liaising with customers, suppliers and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities * Managing engineering projects from sales handover through to final delivery and installation. * Producing plant layouts, general arrangement drawings and detailed fabrication drawings using Auto CAD 2D and Solid Works 3D. * Designing fabricated components including structural steelwork, sheet metal, pipework and heavy fabricated assemblies. * Carrying out site surveys and taking measurements for new and existing installations. * Liaising with customers, suppliers and subcontractors throughout project delivery. * Procuring equipment and negotiating with approved suppliers. * Monitoring project progress, costs and maintaining project documentation. * Producing O&M manuals, technical documentation and project data packs. * Carrying out supplier inspections and quality checks on manufactured equipment. * Supporting installation and commissioning activities, including occasional UK travel and overnight stays. * Working within an ISO9001 Quality Management System.
