Our client, a specialist building envelope contractor with over 40 years of experience, is seeking a Draughtsperson to join their design team. This position can be based from either their head office in Staines-upon-Thames or their Darlington office. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and detailing of roofing and cladding systems across a wide range of commercial projects.

This is a great opportunity for someone with technical drawing experience in the construction industry to join an established and forward-thinking team.

Salary and Working Hours

  • Salary: £35k – £43k – Potentially more dependent on experience.
  • Monday – Thursday: 8am – 5pm, Friday: 8am – 4pm
  • Office-based role with flexibility considered

Draughtsperson – Role Overview

  • Produce detailed drawings, general arrangements, and material schedules for roofing and cladding systems
  • Interpret project specifications, tender documentation, and enquiry drawings
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to obtain necessary design information
  • Attend design meetings and project handovers
  • Identify variations and update drawings accordingly
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers for specialist design elements
  • Review and update as-built drawings as required
  • Support and mentor junior design staff when needed

Draughtsperson – Requirements

  • HNC or equivalent in a design-related subject
  • Previous experience in a design or draughting role within construction
  • Proficient in AutoCAD; experience with 3D software is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with roofing and cladding systems is highly beneficial, including flat roofing, metal roofing, rainscreen cladding, and composite panels
