This is an exciting opportunity for an organised and proactive Hire Controller / Depot Assistant to play a key role in the day-to-day operation of a busy depot.
Role Overview
Manage daily depot administration, including raising hire and sales contracts.
Process customer orders efficiently, ensuring accuracy throughout.
Assist with picking, packing, and preparing equipment for dispatch.
Maintain accurate stock records and support stock control activities.
Keep the depot clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
Build positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
Support the Depot Manager and provide cover when required.
Help coordinate daily depot operations to ensure efficient workflow.
Identify operational issues and contribute to continuous improvements.
Promote excellent customer service and maintain high operational standards.
Work collaboratively with the wider team to achieve business objectives.
Requirements
- Previous experience within a depot, hire desk, warehouse, or supervisory environment.
- Strong IT and computer literacy.
- Experience raising hire or sales contracts would be advantageous.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proactive approach with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Positive, can‑do attitude and willingness to learn.
- Experience supervising or supporting a small team is desirable.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
