A growing multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a CAD Technician to join its expanding technical team. The business provides specialist consultancy services across the built environment, working across surveying, project management, design and building services to deliver end-to-end solutions for its clients.The role will sit within the technical team and will combine CAD production with site-based surveying. You will use survey information, measurements, photographs and 3D scanning data to produce accurate as-surveyed drawings covering mechanical, electrical and public health services. CAD Technician Job Overview:
The successful CAD Technician will support the delivery of measured surveys and technical drawing packages across a range of client estates. You will work alongside experienced engineers, surveyors and CAD/BIM technicians, using survey data to produce clear and accurate record drawings. The role will also involve regular travel to client sites, where you will assist with capturing existing building information using 3D scanning equipment, measurements, photographs and survey notes before translating this information into CAD drawings.
The role will include:
- Producing and updating accurate CAD drawings from measured survey information
- Preparing floor plans, plant-room layouts, elevations, sections and schematics
- Working with survey data, photographs, measurements and 3D scanning information
- Supporting surveys of mechanical, electrical and public health services
- Attending client sites to collect and verify existing building information
- Identifying discrepancies, inaccessible areas and information requiring further investigation
- Following drawing standards, CAD templates, layers, symbols and document-control procedures
- Carrying out quality checks on drawings before technical review
- Incorporating technical feedback and maintaining accurate revision records
- Working closely with engineers, surveyors and other members of the technical team
- Developing knowledge of BIM/Revit and digital building information over time
CAD Technician Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working in a CAD Technician or similar technical drawing role
- Experience using AutoCAD or a similar CAD package
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when producing technical drawings
- Strong spatial awareness and ability to interpret measurements and survey information
- Good IT skills and confidence working with digital information
- A practical and methodical approach to work
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to organise your own workload and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider project team
- Willingness to travel to client sites and undertake site-based survey work
- Experience within M&E, building services, surveying, construction or property would be advantageous
- Experience with Revit, BIM, 3D scanning or measured surveys would be advantageous
