Our client who work within Heavy Civils across the UK are looking for a Project Manager to assist with the delivery of major projects on the South Coast. The Project Manager will be working for a company that has been established for nearly 100 years; this company offers a comprehensive range of services within the Civil Engineering industry, from conception through construction to project delivery.
The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operational success of a project from award through to the end of the maintenance period. It is important for this individual to display exceptional leadership skills explaining what is required on site and how this will take place. This person will be responsible for identifying why events have occurred on site.
Responsibilities- Plan upcoming work, procure subcontractors, and place orders for long lead materials.
- Chair weekly site meetings to ensure the site team (Site Manager/Foreman, Site Engineer) understand what is to be done by when and what can be improved upon and learned from.
- Update contract programme weekly with project planner, highlighting delays and potential claims to the commercial team. Integrate subcontractor work.
- Manage change and risk (NEC), including early warnings, compensation events and accurate forecasting.
- Assure quality via ITPs and audits; capture as-built records and complete fully-documented handovers.
- Monitor and report on financial performance. Highlight commercial risks, and develop solutions to maximize profit.
- Raise Early Warnings, and attend risk reduction meetings.
- BSc/BEng in Civil Engineering (or HNC/HND / NVQ Level 5/6 in Construction Site Management).
- CSCS and SMSTS (Site Safety Plus).
- Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) and First Aid at Work.
- Proven Project Management experience delivering civil engineering schemes from mobilisation to handover.
- NEC3/NEC4 contract experience (programme ownership, early warnings, compensation events, change control).
- Strong programme management skills (Primavera P6 or MS Project), including short-term look-aheads and progress tracking.
- Solid commercial/risk understanding: cost control, forecasting, subcontractor management and procurement.
Salary: circa £70k. Benefits: 25 Days holiday + BH; Car Allowance; Pension up to 10% match; Private Healthcare and Discretionary Bonus.
