Job Overview
- Plan and coordinate daily transport routes and vehicle allocations
- Monitor deliveries and respond quickly to delays, issues, or route changes
- Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, warehouse teams, and internal departments
- Ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time
- Support route optimisation to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs
- Maintain accurate transport records, planning schedules, and operational documentation
- Ensure compliance with driver hours, transport legislation, and Health & Safety requirements
- Coordinate vehicle availability, servicing, and maintenance schedules
- Use transport management systems (TMS) and logistics software to support daily operations
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the transport function
Job Requirements
- Previous experience within transport planning, logistics coordination, or fleet operations
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work effectively within a fast‑paced transport environment
- Good geographical knowledge and route‑planning ability
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and transport planning systems
- Understanding of driver hours, transport compliance, and Health & Safety regulations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Desirable Experience
- CPC qualification or transport compliance knowledge
- Experience within distribution, haulage, logistics, or supply chain operations
- Knowledge of logistics KPIs, reporting, and operational performance metrics
