We are recruiting for a well-established engineering business specialising in pumps, valves, electric motors, and industrial mechanical services. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Sales Engineer to support business development across industrial, utilities, manufacturing, and process sectors. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong technical understanding of pumps and mechanical systems who enjoys combining engineering knowledge with customer-facing sales activity.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing existing customer accounts, conducting site visits, and preparing technical quotations for repair, refurbishment, upgrade, and installation projects. The role will involve working closely with customers, engineers, workshop teams, and management to ensure projects are scoped accurately and delivered successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow business across pumps, valves, and mechanical engineering services
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Conduct site surveys and assess customer requirements
- Prepare technical quotations and project costings
- Provide practical engineering solutions and technical advice
- Negotiate pricing and convert quotations into orders
- Liaise with internal engineering and operations teams
- Maintain CRM records and sales pipeline updates
- Support business development and networking activities
Requirements
- Experience within pump sales, industrial engineering sales, or mechanical engineering services
- Strong understanding of pumps, valves, and related mechanical systems
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Commercially aware with strong negotiation skills
- Organised and capable of managing multiple projects
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Background in industrial, manufacturing, utilities, or drainage sectors
- Experience with field-based technical sales
- Knowledge of electrical/control systems advantageous
