Bennett & Game are delighted to be representing an award-winning multi-disciplinary consultancy recognised for delivering Architecture and Design, Project Management, Surveying, Engineering and Energy & Sustainability services nationwide. As part of their continued expansion, an opportunity has arisen for a Structural Engineer to contribute to a broad portfolio of projects including residential regeneration, education facilities, commercial developments and refurbishment schemes. The position is based in Braintree and offers flexibility for hybrid working to suit individual circumstances.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise, collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensure all designs comply with current standards and regulations. Typical responsibilities will include structural design for new build and refurbishment works, inspections and reporting and input into civils packages such as foundations and drainage. This role offers regular site involvement, significant design responsibility and the opportunity to support and mentor junior engineers.
Responsibilities
Perform site inspections and assess existing structures to determine repair or replacement needs
Design new structures or modify existing ones in line with relevant design codes and standards
Produce structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports
Collaborate with Civil, Mechanical and Electrical teams to integrate structural designs into wider projects
Take part in design reviews, attend project meetings, and visit construction sites as required
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and undertake other duties as necessary
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years\’ worth of relevant experience
Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit
Relevant degree or apprenticeship with suitable industry experience
Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership
Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings
Full clean driving licence with access to your own vehicle
Role subject to a DBS Enhanced check
Salary & Benefits
Salary: 45,000 – 55,000
Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
