Mechanical Design Engineer required for a well-established engineering company based in Stockton-on-Tees. Our client designs and manufactures specialist equipment and engineering solutions for a range of industries and is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of innovative mechanical systems and components, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture.
Position Overview- Designing and developing mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using SolidWorks and CAD software
- Producing detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturing documentation
- Carrying out design calculations and structural analysis to support engineering solutions
- Performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting of design and product issues
- Collaborating with manufacturing, project, and engineering teams to ensure designs meet technical and commercial requirements
- Supporting product development activities from concept through to production
- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives across products and processes
- Ensuring all designs comply with relevant engineering standards and company procedures
- Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer position
- Degree or HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proficient in SolidWorks and CAD software
- Experience producing engineering drawings and technical schematics
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and system design
- Ability to undertake engineering calculations and structural assessments
- Experience carrying out root cause analysis and fault-finding activities
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation (FEA) would be advantageous, although training can be provided
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Salary: Circa £45,000, dependent upon experience and qualifications
- Performance-related bonus structure
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm
- Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
