An established, independent accountancy practice based in the Southampton area is seeking a motivated Personal Tax Senior / Specialist to join a vibrant, growing team. Working directly alongside the firm's directors and tax managers, this position will focus on managing a dedicated portfolio of personal tax clients, picking up ad-hoc advisory projects, and reviewing tax returns prepared by the wider team.
This role is ideal for an individual looking to take ownership of a private client portfolio while having clear pathways to progress to Manager level. Job Responsibilities
- Portfolio Management: Take responsibility for an established client portfolio focused primarily on personal tax, servicing high-net-worth individuals, directors, and sole traders.
- Compliance & Review: Prepare and review self-assessment tax returns, ensuring all submission deadlines are met efficiently across the tax department.
- Advisory & Planning: Assist with technical tax projects, including Capital Gains Tax (CGT) computations and bespoke planning assignments.
- Direct Liaison: Work directly alongside firm directors and client managers, serving as a key point of contact for day-to-day client queries.
- Team Collaboration: Support junior team members and trainees, fostering a collaborative, supportive working environment.
Job Requirements
- Practice Experience: Proven track record in UK personal tax compliance within a recognised accountancy practice.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical knowledge of self-assessment and CGT; experience handling varied personal tax portfolios.
- Qualifications: ATT / CTA qualified, part-qualified, or Qualified by Experience (QBE).
- Career Ambition: Driven to develop technical skills, take on project work, and progress towards a Manager level role.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with an approachable, professional manner when speaking with clients and internal stakeholders.
