An established and highly successful civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Southern Region team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of major infrastructure projects, involving the construction of critical new infrastructure. Job Overview
- Manage the commercial aspects of civil engineering and infrastructure projects from inception through to completion
- Support, mentor and develop junior commercial team members
- Maximise profitability across contracts and ensure commercial objectives are achieved
- Monitor contract costs against budgets and provide accurate forecasting
- Identify commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation strategies
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and commercial reports
- Procure subcontractors, including the preparation and negotiation of subcontract documentation
- Assess and certify interim and final subcontractor payments
- Prepare, negotiate and agree main contract variations
- Assist with the preparation of documentation relating to dispute resolution, including adjudications and arbitrations
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with quality, safety and environmental standards and company procedures
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure successful project delivery
Job Requirements
- Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
- Strong background working on civil engineering and infrastructure projects, particularly highways schemes
- Demonstrable experience administering and managing NEC forms of contract
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ambitious and proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Innovative problem-solving skills and confidence working across multiple levels within a construction environment
- Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills
- Ability to mentor and support junior team members
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel across the Southern Region as required
