A leading specialist geotechnical contractor is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support tender and contract design across a wide range of piling and ground improvement schemes. This is a technical leadership role suited to a geotechnical professional with a strong analytical mindset, a collaborative approach, and a desire to mentor others while contributing to major infrastructure and residential projects.
This is a flexible location role with regular travel to the North West office when required.
Senior Geotechnical Engineer Job Overview
- Deliver high-quality designs for piled foundations, retaining walls, and ground improvement schemes using software such as Wallap, Plaxis 2D, and Oasys.
- Undertake advanced geotechnical analysis, including settlement modelling and soil-structure interaction.
- Review geotechnical site investigation data and convert it into safe, sustainable, and cost-efficient design solutions.
- Lead and manage the design elements of multiple projects, ensuring alignment with Eurocode/BS standards and client specifications.
- Produce clear and comprehensive design reports and ensure designs are implemented effectively on site
- Act as a senior technical reference point, supporting junior engineers and contributing to the wider technical knowledge base.
- Liaise with operations teams and clients to ensure design compliance and assist in resolving site issues or NCRs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of in-house design tools, procedures, and innovation initiatives.
- Stay up to date with the latest technical standards, research developments, and software tools relevant to the discipline.
Senior Geotechnical Engineer Job Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geotechnics or similar (MSc or Chartered status desirable).
- Proven experience delivering designs for piling, ground improvement, or deep foundations.
- Competency with industry-standard geotechnical software and an understanding of relevant codes (Eurocode/BS).
- Strong problem-solving ability, with excellent attention to detail and technical documentation.
- Comfortable mentoring junior engineers and leading complex design projects.
- Full UK driving licence required due to occasional travel between regional sites.
