Senior Design Engineer is required in Waterlooville, Hampshire for our client. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a company working with high end classic / vintage / historic cars. This role takes ownership of mechanical design from concept through to production, producing robust 3D models and manufacturing drawings, supporting prototyping, and resolving build issues on the shop floor.
Job Overview
- Create 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings (assemblies, tolerances, BOMs)
- Lead concept development, design reviews, and design-for-manufacture improvements with production teams
- Specify materials, bought-out parts, and standard components; manage supplier technical queries
- Support prototype builds, first-off inspections, and fault-finding during assembly and commissioning
- Maintain engineering change control and drawing release using a PDM/PLM process
Job Requirements
- Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent); degree desirable
- Proven mechanical design experience in manufacturing, ideally within automotive, classic cars, F1, etc.
- Strong 3D CAD capability (e.g. SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor) and confident producing manufacturing drawings
- Working knowledge of GD
