Bennett & Game are proud to be working with a well-established scaffolding and access contractor who are seeking an experienced Business Development & Commercial Manager to join their growing team based in Preston. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with strong scaffolding industry experience who can combine business development, estimating and commercial management expertise. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving company growth, securing new work, managing client relationships and overseeing the commercial aspects of projects from tender stage through to final account. The role requires a commercially minded professional who can actively win work, build long-term client relationships and represent the business within the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Job Overview

  • Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities within the scaffolding and access sector
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, main contractors and key stakeholders
  • Attend client meetings, networking events, hospitality functions and industry events
  • Prepare scaffolding estimates, quotations and tender submissions
  • Price both tube & fitting and system scaffolding projects
  • Lead commercial discussions and contract negotiations
  • Manage valuations, variations, applications for payment and final accounts
  • Produce commercial reports and monitor project profitability
  • Work closely with operational teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Support the development of commercial strategies and business growth initiatives
  • Act as a key ambassador for the business across major construction and infrastructure projects

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience within the scaffolding and access industry
  • Strong understanding of tube & fitting and system scaffolding
  • Experience in business development, estimating, commercial management or quantity surveying within scaffolding
  • Ability to identify opportunities and convert enquiries into profitable projects
  • Existing industry contacts and client relationships would be highly advantageous
  • Experience preparing estimates, tenders and commercial submissions
  • Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, applications for payment and commercial reporting
  • Excellent negotiation and client management skills
  • Commercially astute with a strong focus on profitability and relationship management
  • Confident and professional communicator capable of representing the business externally
  • Full UK Driving Licence
