Yard Operations Manager

Overview
Our client is seeking a hands-on Yard Operations Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy waste and recycling site.
This is a practical management position suited to someone with a strong mechanical plant background who is comfortable overseeing operations while also getting involved on the ground when required.
The ideal candidate may currently be working as a Senior Plant Operator, Plant Supervisor or similar and be looking to take the next step in their career.
Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the yard and ensure the site runs efficiently.
Manage and support a team of approximately 8-9 yard-based employees.
Oversee machine operators and ensure plant is being operated safely and effectively.
Operate site machinery when required to support the wider team and maintain operations.
Coordinate servicing, maintenance and repairs across the site's plant and machinery.
Identify mechanical issues and assist with troubleshooting and repairs where required.
Work alongside existing workshop and maintenance support.
Arrange and order parts and ensure maintenance requirements are dealt with promptly.
Help manage day-to-day operational issues, including staff and machinery requirements.
Work closely with the wider management team to maintain a safe and productive working environment.
Requirements
Previous experience within a
plant, waste, recycling, aggregates or similar heavy machinery environment .
Strong practical/mechanical understanding of heavy plant and machinery.
Experience operating heavy plant such as excavators, loading shovels or similar machinery.
Comfortable taking a hands-on approach rather than being purely office-based.
Experience overseeing or supervising a team would be advantageous.
Good understanding of plant maintenance, repairs and servicing requirements.
Organised and capable of taking ownership of day-to-day yard operations.
Ideally based within a reasonable commuting distance of
Evesham .
Salary & Benefits
Circa £60,000 depending on experience, with flexibility for the right candidate.
Monday-Friday, approximately 6:30am-4:30pm.
