Salary: Up to £35,000 DOE

Our client is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their team and will be responsible for planning and coordinating HGV movements across the transport network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimise vehicle routes to maximise fleet utilisation and delivery performance
  • Coordinate fleet schedules and monitor vehicle availability to maintain operational efficiency
  • Liaise with drivers, customers, warehouse teams, and internal departments to ensure smooth operations
  • Manage route changes, delays, breakdowns, and other operational issues as they arise
  • Ensure compliance with transport legislation, driver hours regulations, and operational procedures
  • Maintain accurate transport records, reporting, and fleet performance data
  • Monitor transport costs and identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiencies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across transport operations

Requirements

  • Previous experience within transport planning, logistics coordination, or fleet planning
  • Good understanding of transport operations, route planning, and driver hours regulations
  • Experience working within fast-paced logistics or transport environments
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Experience using transport planning systems and Microsoft Office packages
  • Logistics or transport qualifications beneficial but not essential
  • UK Driving Licence advantageous but not essential

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary up to £35,000 depending on experience
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 18:00 with a 30-minute unpaid break
  • Some weekend working may be required during busy periods or emergency situations
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase additional leave
