Our client has a proven track record in delivering complex rail infrastructure projects across the UK. Principal Rail Structural Engineer Job Overview Lead the structural design, analysis and assessment of complex rail infrastructure projects including station upgrades, bridge refurbishments and electrification works Oversee project delivery from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with Eurocodes, British Standards, Network Rail and industry safety requirements Manage multidisciplinary design teams, providing technical guidance, mentoring and quality assurance for junior engineers and technicians Liaise directly with clients, contractors and stakeholders to coordinate design solutions and resolve technical challenges in live railway environments Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, design calculations and technical reports Drive innovation in design methodologies, incorporating sustainable practices and advanced BIM techniques where applicable Principal Rail Structural Engineer Job Requirements Proven experience delivering structural engineering projects within the UK rail infrastructure sector, ideally including stations, bridges or electrification schemes Ability to work autonomously when required while effectively collaborating within multidisciplinary teams Chartered status (MIStructE or MICE) preferred; fast-track support to achieving chartership will be provided if not already attained Proficiency in industry-standard design and drafting software including AutoCAD and Revit; familiarity with structural analysis tools is advantageous Strong knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and Network Rail design standards Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients, stakeholders and colleagues at all levels Track record of mentoring junior engineers and contributing to their professional development Principal Rail Structural Engineer Salary & Benefits £65,000 – £90,000 per annum, dependent on experience and level of chartership Opportunity for a company car for Principal-level Chartered Engineers Hybrid working arrangements available when required Competitive contributory pension scheme Private health insurance Fast-track support to achieving Chartered status if not already attained 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays Support for professional memberships and attendance at industry conferences/seminars Regular in-house and external training to support technical development and leadership skills Collaborative, close-knit team environment with direct access to senior leadership Clear career progression pathwaysBennett and Game Recruitment are a multi-disciplined technical recruitment agency based in Chichester, West Sussex operating across the UK with specialist teams covering a range of industries.
