The BMS / Building Controls Programmer position is required in Cornwall for our client. Our client is a specialist business operating within the building controls and building services sector, developing and delivering intelligent control solutions for buildings and associated systems. The role would suit an experienced programmer or controls engineer with a strong background in BMS, building automation or PLC-based control systems, particularly someone with Tridium experience.
The successful candidate will be involved in developing building control systems from the ground up, programming and configuring control systems, producing technical documentation and working closely with engineers and electricians to deliver complete solutions. The role could also suit an electrician or electrical/controls engineer with a strong interest in programming, automation and home/building automation.
Job Overview
- Develop and programme building management and building control systems from initial concept through to completion.
- Use Tridium-based control systems to develop and configure building automation solutions.
- Write and modify software/programs to control building services and associated equipment.
- Work with BMS, PLC and building automation systems to deliver effective control solutions.
- Develop building systems and control strategies to meet project requirements.
- Work closely with electrical engineers, electricians and other building services professionals during system development and installation.
- Engineer complete control solutions from the ground up, including programming, configuration and system integration.
- Test, troubleshoot and optimise control systems to ensure reliable operation.
- Produce and maintain clear technical documentation relating to programming, system configuration and completed projects.
- Assist with commissioning and resolving technical issues where required.
- Keep up to date with developments in building controls, automation and associated technologies.
Job Requirements
- Previous experience within BMS, building controls, building automation, PLC programming or a closely related building services environment.
- Tridium experience is essential.
- Good understanding of building control systems and associated building services.
- Experience developing, programming or configuring control systems.
- Ability to understand electrical/control systems and how different building services interact.
- Experience with PLCs and/or other automation platforms would be advantageous.
- Electrical or controls engineering background would be beneficial.
- An electrician with programming/controls experience and a genuine interest in automation and smart building technology would also be considered.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to develop solutions from scratch.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of programming and technical projects.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work alongside engineers, electricians and other technical teams.
- Full UK driving licence would be advantageous due to the nature of the role.
